Agreed. This new version is definitely better looking and what I'd call a kilt.
As for material, I agree with Highrise. Merino rocks! Love my merino sweater for hiking, warm when it gets cold and keeps you cool when it's warm (to a point, don't want it to be too hot).

The industry veteran in me is wondering if the guy who snapped the picture was escorted off the trade show floor.... it used to be that you couldn't even carry a pencil and sketch pad into the Salt Palace during the OR conventions.

Decent review considering his lack of really appreciating the value of a kilt. Sadly, no pleat shots. Decent price point.

I just bought one of these, it is good for just knocking around the house, very lightweight, and is a very utilitarian kilt. Also the price could not be beat.

You bought the new version with the "pleats" in the rear?

Yes I did. While not the top of the line kilt, it will do for now.

What store or where did you buy it from. Most reports are that it won't be available until Spring.

I bought it on line. They have several marked down to $49USD. Only took a week for them to ship. It was from a company called MuseumReplicas.com
