actually, the wool kilt fits right into the social chaos of general steampunk mythos;woolen livestock as man's agrarian past, dashed upon the rocks of his industrial present in fabric mills, resulting in an odd creation that is practical, strange and beautiful.

    Talking Steampunk and Kilts

Some of my inspirations for Steampunk are movies like Wild Wild West -- in particular, Artemus Gordon, and Doc Brown from the third movie of Back to the Future.

I've started putting together a Steampunk outfit assembled around a kilt. This is the first outting with the wife -- taken in Balboa Park, San Diego.

I've continued to "deck it out," and I really like the idea mentioned previously of a clockworks kilt pin -- I just think it needs to do something, even if the gears just turn for a while.

Hmmm, the link is there for the image, but it does not show up when I look at it... Bummer.

Mind, I'm inspired to transform a jacket I have with some bits of leather and metal junk from around the house and in my garage. How about a steampunk sgian or a steampunk belt for my kilt?!

Generally steampunk goes for the do it yourself slant. This is a good forum to check out: http://brassgoggles.co.uk/forum/index.php. Based out of the UK, there is a wealth of information and the membership is world wide.

Thanks for the plug Dee, I do need to finish the tale, just been too damn busy with school and classroom observations.

Quantum mechanics have brought us what? Just asking.

What do you make of the kilt in the opening post?

I should mention that my wife - who's attitude towards the kilt is lukewarm at best, and comes from a bit of a "goth" history in high school (her fav band is still "The Cure") - reacted pretty positively to the "steampunk kilt".

May have to make myself one. Need a sewing machine first...

BTW, I'll try embedding a few images for anyone who hasn't gone to visit the page yet...

There are a lot more on that page.
