I think that your tie goes well with tartan. Solid colour ties aren’t a rule for kilt wear.
This is my version of mixing colours and textures.
Again I would like to give you my Seal of Approval (for this time you can see it thanks to McMurdo)
Best,

Very, very well done! Quite traditional. You have my seal of approval.

As others have said, very smart-looking. To REALLY nit-pick, I'd adjust the laces to be lined up, at an equal height. Yours are fine, though.
I tie mine with a half-hitch (one lace around the other, just like starting a standard bow knot), three twists in front, bring the laces around the back at no more than a 45 deg. angle, a half-hitch, three twists, then bring the laces around the front level (parallel to the ground), then finish with a regular bow knot at the 10 o'clock & 2 o'clock positions. I usually double-knot the bow just to make sure the laces don't come undone.
This should put the laces about 3 inches above the ankle bone.

I'm glad to hear you are replacing the tie, as that was my only cause for hesitation.
As for kilt slippage -- have you considered suspenders? Bob just dug some out for use last weekend, under his vest/tux conversion, and they worked wonders.

I admit I'm a bit proud of the outfit. Now if I could just do something about the ape wearing it!
I've been saying that for years... I love the sporran- the way the red contrasts with the blue is fantastic! I love hunting sporrans, anyway, but that looks really well thought out.

A new problem
Now poor KD Burke has to figure out how to incorporate all these different seals of approval on his splendid outfit.
Perhaps he needs to get miniature versions of them to display on the left breast of the jacket?
Cheers

Actually, I was going to have embroidered patches made up and sew them to the back of my jacket.
Tell me I ain't couth!

Maybe you should get a sash and wear them like a boy scout wears his merit badges (or at least used to when I was a scout).

If you're going to change the tie, and get a pocket square, maybe match or coordinate the tie, pocket square, and flashes? Spreads a bit of color about.
But really, it doesn't need anything.
