    Thumbs up

John, I did as you said and brought them up, "TheScottishTartanStore", have you used them before? I do like the tartans they are offering, but not in the market for a new kilt, besides no "Seton Tartan" shown/offered. Thanks for the site info!

Yeah, I found them the other day myself and "discovered" that they were selling 8 yd custom sized kilts in the Braveheart movie tartan for around $225US plus s/h, very similar to the price bobolishious was selling them at around this time last year when the gbp was a bit weaker against the dollar. I got mine then. I think either this guy picked up Bob's suppliers and kiltmakers when he changed careers, or Bob folded his old line into a new vendor and is still doing the same thing for the same prices under a different name. I thought I had heard on a "what happened to bobolishious" thread that someone talked to Bob Chalmers a month or two ago and said he had completely gotten out of the kilt business? Either way, nice to see that there is still somebody out there doing good quality bottom dollar work, as long as his QA is up to that of Bob's kilts. I love mine---probably one of the best fitting I own, and it is not even hand sewn.

It's not Bob Chalmers but it is the same end of bolt reduction sort of thing. The parent co. is Tartanweb. I've got a kilt on order from them that's currently in the making and I own a Bobilishious kilt as well so I can compare the two when it turns up. Communications with them are excellent so far. I'll keep you posted.

They carry a fairly inexpensive Prince Charlie in most sizes too----with shipping, less than $200US to the states, and made in the UK, according to the auction listing. Might be worth pulling the trigger on that.

I sent an email to Bob after reading that thread as well. He let me know that he has moved to a different department. Nice to see that it would seem they found someoen to fill the spot.

Let us know how the new kilt is English Bloke.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

I'd been in contact with Bob about purchasing a second kilt, and by the time I got around to actually placing the order, he'd moved to a different role within the company. He referred me to jp@tartanwebscotland.com (John Paul MacDougall) who handled my order. It should be arriving any day now. I'm hopeful that the quality of the Tartanweb kilt will be the same as that of my "Bobilishious" kilt.

I'll post a review once received.

I've been to their HQ to pick up a kilt from them.
They're a friendly bunch and their kilts are good quality. They make them in the same building as they send them to you - so no middle man!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
