I often wear the Sport Sporran, which is the waistpack that SportKilt sell for only $12. I tend to wear it like a waistpack on the hip, but there's nothing stopping you from wearing it at the front (although to me that's one of the things about sporrans that I dislike). One of the dividers disintegrated, so it used to have three compartments and now only has two, but for that price I shouldn't really grumble.

I do have a couple of regular sporrans, but only tend to wear them to go to the festivals.

I also have a SportKilt with slit pockets ($20 extra) and Freedom Kilts also offer those, although there kilts are a bit more money. Both of those firms do both tartan and non-tartan kilts. Those kind of pockets don't really show (until you put your hands in them!), although they do move around inside the kilt. I try to limit what I put in them, even down to having a special bunch of keys with fewer keys on it.

I usually wear a jacket of some sort when kilted, either a tweed Crail or some sort windcheeter/bumfreezer. Plenty of pocket space.

    Regards

Look around at some vendors that cater to the renfaire crowd, they are all about pouches!
