Lol! Similar thing happened to me this summer. I was walking through the airport when a women talking on a payphone called out to me.

"Excuse me! Sir. Yes. Excuse me."

"Yes?"

"Could you tell me what tartan that is?"

"This? Isle of Skye."

"Isle of Skye," she repeated into the telephone.

I would've stuck around to find out what that was all about, but it was final board call for my flight so I was in a bit of a hurry. :-)

Sounds like you heard just the correct amount of that conversation. It really helps to perk up your day when you hear a nice compliment, even if it isn't directly said to you.
