pirate radio movie preview
I listened to it twice today, and one of the songs during the preview sounded to me like DKM's Shipping up to Boston. http://www.workingtitlefilms.com/tra...thatrocked.htm
It's driving me crazy, what is that song!?!?!?

Yes. On the US Trailer they do indeed use a snippet from "Shipping up to Boston." Love the tune, but it seems out of place for the film (no offense to DKM--I'm sure they appreciated the check!). The other two trailers don't use it.
Thanks for the link. Looks to be a fun film! I'm looking forward to it.

I *heart* Celtic-punk... yes, its true
That tune has gotten them some distance -- used in that J.Nickolson/Decaprio film (The Departed?), used in an episode of King Of The Hill, I think Wikipedia lists where its been used and its origins are kind of like Blackout which was by Woody Guthrie.
Seems there was another Celtic-punk tune that was used in a commercial, but I wanna say that was a Real Mckenzies tune. Anyone got some clarity on that?

No, that wasn't "Shipping Up To Boston" but a good knock-off. The intro guitar crunches are different and the accordion melody is different.

Thats kinda what I thought, it didn't sound quite right. Granted, I did have the intro part of Shipping... as my ringtone for a while. I think I still like the 'knock off' though. I am intrigued at any rate.

that version sounds different than I am used to also though, not quite up for spending a buck on it just to be sure though. Might be an early version of it, still DKM but not what we are used to.

Knock-off or not, it's "Shipping Up To Boston." Different version maybe? Either way, I'm sure the DKMs will get paid because it's their song. (Actually, the lyrics are by Woody Guthrie.)

That movie is going to rock out. I wanna be a pirate when I grow up. Maybe 40. Who's in?

just saw another preview, no 'shipping' but I love a quote from it:
"I intend to broadcast from this boat until the day I die, and maybe a few after that." (or something like that.)
