Oh yes, I am probably doing everything wrong!. I know little about kilts and kit. I received my first mail order casual yesterrday and found there was one buckle and strap on the front left, and two straps on the back right, but only one buckle on the back right. I wasn't sure what to do with the dangling strap. Perhaps the kiltmaker forgot a buckle? Or perhaps I really don't know what I am doing.

Perhaps someday I will post a picture. At the moment I am still in the kit assembly stage. Mostly on the cheap to get the hang of it, learning why others recommend against scrimping. Thanks friends.

MacBean, Please do not worry that you will not get enough advice from this crowd. Also, please do not worry that things seem different from what you assumed, or what you were told. Your kilt MAY WELL be missing a buckle or a strap. However, it will be much easier to sort all of this out if you devote a few hours to browsing this forum and the wisdom of those who came before us. I wish I could tell you where, but if you do browse, you will find much discussion on the correct height to wear a kilt, both at the top and the bottom ( Are Kilts Getting Longer was one thread title) and very excellent illustrated advice on One Kilt Ten Ways to wear it, from Panache and McMurdo. The thread of pictures of Prince Charles will give you a lot of practical views of several styles and types of kilt wearing.

Finally, please pardon me for carrying on- whatever and however you wear it, may you wear it in good health.
Some take the high road and some take the low road. Who's in the gutter? MacLowlife
