Vorpallemur makes a good point about taking apart sport jackets, or at least looking at their inerds. When I was young I did watch clothing being made, and I think that could also be helpful. I don't know if there are any videos out there. I've only tinkered with the fit of jackets and never tried to make one from a pattern; I really don't think I could...
