I think what you will be wearing should do fine, day sporran and shoes matching in level of style is okay. Just from the sound of the combo (yellow tie, blue hose, red flashes), even though each might be present in the tartan of your kilt, still you might have a bit of a circus clown color scheme going so I would try it on and look in the mirror to see if it works in your own eye. If in doubt swap out the red flashes for the tartan ones and you should be great to go.
And like Chas says, if you are the only one kilted who is to critique you? Go proud and self assured. And have a blast.

I think you've got it...just don't wear tartan flashes (not becoming a MacLean!).

I don't see a problem. I think as long as you look nice, it will work.

Good points (and I want to make my clan proud and not cringe!)! I will put it all together tonight to see but you did inspire me to increase my options. I ran to the kilt store during lunch and picked up navy blue and mustard (I don't know why I was so drawn to it) flashes. Navy blue would be subtle and the yellowy-mustardy color would actually match almost perfectly a tie I already have.
They also had a sale on ties - wool ties for $10... I picked up a few of them. Bonus!
I'm still undecided about the shoes but it sounds like the black plain sporran is the way to go. I didn't see any that I loved at the kilt store enough to drop a few hundred on 'just because.'
Thanks all!

Noah, shine up the buckle shoes and wear those. They'll be smart but not too formal and you won't mind them getting mucky.
Go for the black sporran since it'll compliment the rest of the outfit. (I love Freelanders, though.)
The advice on flashes and ties etc is spot on.
Just have fun and have a good time with K at the wedding.
Also, post pictures!!!

I say wear the dress shoes. They would be more appropriate.

Whatever shoes you wear, give them a good polish. It's a nice final touch and is the mark of a gentleman.

Opton no. 1 for both options will see you through the ceremony just fine and in good fashion.

Either of your day sporrans will work. If you feel the black one fits best, wear it. "Semi-formal sporrans" to me are not worth thinking about. Save up for a formal one some day, but the nice black one will suit every occasion in the mean time.
You don't need "kilt shoes," either pair should be fine if they are polished and well cared for. Plain black shoes, like a nice black day sporran, are well suited to any occasion up to and including white tie.
The charcoal Braemar will be smashing. Go, and have fun. You might want to carry a dressy cane, in case the ladies become over-aggressive.
