Actally your tartan appears more likely to be ancient macdonald rather than modern macdonald, which could explain your difficulty in recognition due to the different color palate, an understandible error.
Please pardon any discomfort I may have caused.

Jeff - no problem and no insult taken. For some reason I had Clanranald stuck in my head - like a song you can't get rid of. When I looked it up I saw the white over check, I never asked the basic question - What about the MacDonalds that don't come from Clanranald? When the answer came back, it was one of those foot and mouth moments, all I wanted to do was change feet and let the thread die quietly.

The kilt itself is quite peculiar. It is hand sewn and there are a variety of buttons on the inside for braces (suspenders). The really strange thing is the colours. The picture is not accurate. The colours are different indoors and outdoors.

Indoors, the green is a bright lime green and very vibrant, in fact it takes over. The blue is almost black and although it gives the impression that it might be blue, you wouldn't stake your life on it. The red is a dirty red.

Outdoors (in good light), it is as you see it in the picture. As soon as there is a bit of cloud or shadow then we revert to an indoor look.

As soon as I can give it a bit of a tidy up and true photography, I will be selling it (my wife really hates it).

For the record Jeff, I always welcome your comments - I might not agree with them, but I always thing they are fair.

Regards

Chas
