Tewksbury Wait
I purchased a nice quantity of remnant tartan last year (thanks to a fellow Xer's hint) and sat on it while I saved my money.
After a year-and-a-half--yes, youngsters, this is not instant gratification--I have just ordered a new kilt from Barbara Tewksbury. I sent the fabric to her yesterday, and I'll get the kilt in February . . .or thereabout.
Talk about jonesing! This will be the way in which I slow down the pace at which I am aging!
Janet Eagleton is working with me on a new day sporran (pray for her; her mother has a terminal illness), and I am looking at new ties and pocket squares.
You can imagine how very young I will be able to stay over the next 4 months as the time drags. I'll one day have a new Ulster tartan kilt to show you guys.

Well done Jim! that is how I got my Tewks as well. I sat on the fabric for more than a year while I waited for the pennies to add up. It is well worth the wait!

My Barb T wait was a bit shorter, albeit enough of a wait for me. In January my fabric was sent to her by ThistleDown who split a length of DW Maple Leaf with me for Barb to work her magic on. As previously posted here, after I recieved the kilt in July or so there was a bit of a skew problem with the tartan in the front apron. which Barb took back and has done some repairs. I just got word yesterday from Barb that it is now fixed and winging its way to me again for final reunion. May even be there when I get home today.
The time accumulating the savings is worth the effort, and will only make the enjoyment of the kilt that much greater when it arrives. Barb does beautiful work and is a real pleasure to work with. Good luck and enjoy the jones, then the kilt.

I am very excited, as you can imagine. Here's what the tartan looks like on a real person (photo is of a kilt by Matt):
A closeup of the tartan:
And here's my grandson about 6 months ago wearing one of my bonnets:
The bonnet has nothing to do with my new kilt, but he is awfully cute.
I am planning to purchase some brick red hose for this kilt, and probably some black traditional flash ties.
I'm going to look smashing. Well, I'm going to look as good as I can. Ha.

I look foreward to seeing both kilts (thescots and paulhenry) posted on here.. Both will be remarkable...

I'm sure that your new kilt will be well worth the wait. Can't wait to see the photos when it arrives.

Beautiful tartan. Wondering if I search hard enough if I can find some heritage relationship to Ulster as an excuse for another kilt project. Cannot wait to see yours both.

Speaking of this, I am having a kilt made for me by our illustrious professor in the Maple Leaf tartan from B&S' clearance sale. There should be enough fabric left for another kilt. Anyone interested in purchasing it?

Were you talking about B&S (Burnetts & Struth) or F&K (Fraser & Kirkbright)? The latter I believe was having the Ulster tartan sale, but I believe that the former was having a great sale on 6 yd casual kilts that included the Ulster tartan, at least for a while.
