I've been a bassist since I was 17 years old and now play professionally in at least 4 groups, in addition to doing studio/session work. I also was offered an endorsement in 2008 with Lakland Basses out of Chicago, IL and play those basses exclusively (4-string, 5-string, 5-string fretless). I also play double bass as well. I'm mainly a jazz/fusion guy, but play most any style. I love being able to craft lines in any style and bring that one special feel or idea to the table that totally makes everything click. After all... we bassists are the bridge between melody, harmony, and rhythm.... we have lots of power!

I have 3 basses, a vintage Hofner Verithin circa 1963 (which I got in 1968 when it wasn’t vintage !), a Fender Jazz and a 6-string Washburn and a Laney 1000 - 250W combo. As a young lad, I played in my family ceilidh trio where we all wore the kilt (I’ll try to see if I still have a photo – lol !), later my brother and I co-founded a 5 piece folk-rock group in the early 1970’s called Quorum (in the mould of the Fairports and JSD Band but that last too long), but my love of that time was rock music, esp The Who and Deep Purple.

I’ve all but given up over the years as after I went abroad to work, I never had anyone to play with anymore (poor me !). But I still drag my faithful instruments around the World with me and they’re in my music room here in Muscat, Oman. My kids are now learning electric guitar and keyboards respectively, so maybe soon they can jam with the old man ! A bit of ‘60’s blues and R&B sounds to be in order. Get that Mojo working !
