Better to be dressed in a Regimental Plaidie honoring those who fought for a Nation's Constitutional Government (God Save Good King George!) than prancing around with a weasel-faced purse covering one's "goolies" and dressed like a Glasgow Banker on Holiday!

A couple days ago, at the library (where I work), a fellow walked up and I noticed he was wearing a loosley fitting (what appeared to be) silk or linen long shirt and pants, indicating that he was of "Eastern" (maybe Turkish or somewhere North of Turkey) background. And... Also... indicating that he was wearing something quite suitable for the South Florida weather.

I asked him if that was "silk or linen", and mentioned that it looked good and quite comfortable. I also told him I'd worn a kilt a few days earlier and it was amazingly comfortable.

He said that together we'd have quite a Halloween costume going... I asked him if he thought he was wearing a "Costume" or if he was just wearing "Clothes"? I said that from my perspective he was just wearing interesting and quite practical clothing and thought that people should, more often, wear clothing that honored their backgrounds.

His name was Malik, He grinned, and we shook hands!

If he comes back again, I'll ask him if he has any Albanian roots and suggest we have a fustanella/philebeag "pleat-off"... loser buying the first round of oozu!

Its only one piece, I used a small bodkin to pin it to my waistcoat.

Dave, do you pleat the Belted plaid every time you use it? Or are your pleats sewn in? because they look fantastic! Also everytime i wear my belted plaid the front apron seems tight, kind of restricting i' am i doing something wrong?

I pleat everytime, it only takes a few minutes. I use the measurement from my elbow to the tips of my fingers for my apron width.
