A Family Tie Question for Geneologists

    Hi All!

First I wasn't sure where to post this so if it would go better somewhere else please move it there. Thank-you!

I used to do geneology for a hobby and was able to trace family to Scotland, Ireland, England, and Germany. One ancester of mine Peter Oard shows up in the marriage records of Northumbria in 1632 and the next time he's found is in some Maryland records in 1637. I haven't done that well with any of the rest of the family names but the recent family information puts the Murrah's and the Sharps as Scots, with the Norwoods as the English connections. The German comes in with my paternal Grandfather whose parents immigrated apparently sometime in the mid to late 1800's the name at some point was changed in spelling from Heins to Hines for some reason by my Grandfather.

Ok that's the end of the porch building. LOL Here's the question. I am given to understand that any Oard,Ord ,Orde, stand a good chance of being related as there were not too many that made the move across. They are found of course in the States and Canada. Is there anyone in the form that has that surname in their history? Also does anyone have any information on the surname Murrah and it's place origin?

I'm looking for possible tartan conections and family information.

My screen reader will not read the hanwritten records that one may find on Ancestry.com or the other geneological sites so I must depend on the assistance of others to glean the information.

My thanks to you all for your help!

    Slainte'

I have thought so too. I was just beginning to run this down when my sight began to fail and it's bugging me to no end. I think it's a family line that wouldn't be too hard to trace. Murrah was my Great-Grandmother's surname before she married and was known for her "Scots temper". LOL!

    Thanks for the thought!
