I'd go the charcoal ties myself, but either will be a step up from the tartan flashes IMHO. And I agree on outfit #1... just the ticket.

I would not get too wound up about the colour of flashes, but red will be fine. Some are not too keen on tartan flashes, but if you like them, then wear them.

I will echo the sentiments of all... you look fine.. and yes, a good polish on the shoes wil make a difference.. keep it simple and you will dress to impress..

I'm voting for #1. You can never go wrong with a white shirt and tie when it comes to work. This is one occasion where I'll have to admit that the tartan flashes look good.

Surely no one would complain about those outfits. They all look good. But for work, just to be sure, I'd go with the white shirt and tie.

My one suggestion would be to eventually find a more contemporary sporran. The Rob Roy sporrans (badly misnamed as Rob Roy never wore that type) look like you are dressed to go to a Renn-fest or something. If you aren't trying to achieve a "historical costume" look, go for a sporran that is more contemporary in style and design. Other than that, you look fine.

I agree, and I'd love a more contemporary sporran for everyday wear. But I had to make my sporrans out of leather I had on hand, due to budget limitations. And the only pattern I could find was for this one.

When I have spare time, I'll probably try to make a more modern looking one. And when funds allow, I'll likely buy several different types.

I'm hoping the folks here at work, who know nothing of kilts, won't ken the difference.
