Man oh man - that's a whole lot of tartan! Now, I doubt I could ever pull off a look like this, but I think he looks splendid. I love the cut of the jacket, the five button waistcoat, the impeccable tailoring and the fresh look of the sporran. The color of the kilt hose seems perfect and the boots (are those ammo boots?) while not my cup of tea really do anchor him firmly to the ground.
Oh yeah - the OBE is a remarkable achievement! Well done Mr. Cumming!

I agree, he pulls it off really well. If I could have that tailored to me I'd definitely wear it.
I even think he pulls off the boots.

I like everything about this outfit. I don't know that I would ever venture to try it. I'm glad he did. I even like the boots.

I wouldn't have worn the boots either, but I think they work for him. Maybe its edgy boots on the bottom, edgy hair on the top, everything ties together. The tartan is a great one for that outfit, too.

It's a great look for him and is perfectly executed. I'd look like a tartan dirigible, but that's my problem, not the clothes. He looks like a million bucks.

I think he looks 90% great (the boots cover about 10%). Dressier black shoes would have been fine as per the Scottish trend (brown sporran, black shoes). As another little nitpick if I may, I would have gone with a sporran strap. That tiny little chain just looks insufficient for the task. He also lucked out in the tartan department. I guess we should be glad he's not Alan MacLeod of Lewis.

Fantastic !
I could dress like that any time ! The tailoring is very professional.
Now as far as the footwear is concerned, also the sporran, it suits well the personage of Alan Cumming as it puts a little distance in the general reading of the outfit.
Best,

Wow, I really like this. The hunting Cumming (Buchan) tartan has always been one of my favorites.
I'll only chime in to give my agreement with what everyone else says about the boots. I, personally, would have worn a black dress shoe. But, given what (limited) knowledge I have of his personality, I can see why they would be a choice for him, and I suppose they do go with the hair cut. :-)
The only other thing that bothers me about his outfit is his sporran. The main thing that I don't like about it is the asymmetry. I think it's distracting and a bit off putting. But I do like the fact that it is otherwise rather plain. With such a splendid tartan outfit I think a simple sporran is all you need. I think I may have recommended a simple brown muskrat mask sporran. Or he could have stuck with a plain leather day sporran and just worn a more traditional style.
But other than that, I give the outfit two thumbs up!
