This might sound like a silly question, but in the shot of the different-colored trees, are the yellow ones a different species or did they just turn colors sooner than the others?

Thanks for posting these beautiful photos. I see now why you're in the tourism business.

The answer is yes they are different species. Most of the yellow trees are Silver Birch, the red-ish ones are the Mountain Ash(Rowan),I can see Alder and Oak too.As to the green softwoods I can see Scots Pine, and Sitka Spruce. In another, later, picture you will see a large dose of dark green Sitka with splodges of yellow, that will be Larch.

Jock, I hope this is the only type of argument that you have with a tree.

Sorry, I wouldn't have a clue what trees were what, but I see Jockscot came to my rescue on that one. Also I'm not in the tourism business, I just like taking bus tours as they are a reasonably cost effective way to see the country. I actually run a photo mini lab in a branch of a well known 165 year old company - okay then - Boots. With the advent of digital, we are seeing off our competition, and who knows what tomorrow could bring. Film processing is dwindling, but it hasn't died off yet. I still use film, in fact these photos were shot on our own brand, then saved to cd for the purpose of posting etc.
