my new pocket watch

I found this pocket watch on ebay and had it engraved with my "clan logo". It's actually not a real clan logo, but it's the closest I get a clan since I do not have any Scottish ancestry.

I will use this pocket watch with my waistcoats. I have a dark green, one red and the waistcoats in my PC outfit.
But my dear friends. You gotta help me with how the chain should be attached to the waistcoats. When I attach it as I believe it to be, the end of the chain shows, and it is not so pretty. Can any of you gentlemen give me some advice?

I am not familiar with that sort of fastening.I wonder if you could explain how the clip(fastening) works?Perhaps another picture?

Normally, a fob is attached to the other end of the watch chain. The fob could be any number of things just like a key chain decoration.

The fob is then put in one of the waistcoat pockets and the watch in the other; the chain hanging across the front of the waistcoat. (Couple of different ways to do that.)

I have a pocket knife for mine, or I have a mounted coin that is probably for a key chain.

If the watch is to go through the buttonhole of the lapel, with the watch in the breast pocket, you might think about using a more decorative and small sized fob.

That chain appears to be designed to clip to the waistband of your trousers if you have a watch pocket. You will need a different chain for your waistcoats. One with a t-bar to put through a waistcoat buttonhole.

If it is long enough, you could put the clip in one pocket, thread the chain through the buttonhole, then attach to the watch and put it in the opposite pocket.

This is the type of chain you need with a t-bar to fasten in a buttonhole, either on your lapel or a waistcoat. Some chains also have a second piece of chain that you can attach a fob to.

Thanks for good advice friend. I understand now that I have the wrong chain, so I just have to search for a good albert chain, dobble or singel, time will show.

If someone have links to albert chain vendors, please inform me.

I only wear pocket watches and got really turned off by the prices of double Alberts. Take a look at them on the internet. A little chain, a nice bauble, an ear-ring drop, a lobster claw clasp and a nice trinket to hang on the one end (I usually use a half-crown coin or some such) and there you have one. Once you learn how much chain is just right, then you can whip these babies out in no time and you can customize them to your hearts content.
