Bud I nebber ged codes
Yesterday I woke with a very sore throat and over the course of the day developed sneezing, bunged up nose, bleary eyes, headache, an unsettled stomach, and a general feeling of malaise.
As someone who just doesn't catch whatever is going round I am feeling hard done by, and hoping it isn't 'flu' - but I will have to make the best of it and wrap myself in a cosy plaid, with a thermos of hot water and lemon juice, with a jar of honey and a bottle of rum for self medication.
No sense wasting an attack of the sneezles on some whimpish lemon or blackcurrent flavoured stuff out of a packet.
Ow - it feels as though the top of my head is about to fly off when I sneeze - I think it is time to find an armchair and rest up for a while.

The lemon juice is a good start on beefing up your Vitamin C, but I'd add some Vitamin C tablets and zinc to your self-medication. They do help!
Hope you get to feeling better.

Your self medication kit sounds just the ticket, although a dollop of paracetamol might be handy to have in reserve.Anyway, get better soon.

Hope you get well soon, Pleater.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Cold cure
Good whiskey utterly fails to cure a cold......but it fails more pleasently than anything that comes to mind
Become well soon

I'm sorry to hear you're unwell. The plan of self-medication sounds acceptable. Remember that rest and clear fluids are best. "Clear fluids" is hard to define -- but I figure if I can see through it, it's clear. (Yeah, yeah, I know...it means it has no fat...)
The head and unsettled stomach say it's more than a cold, but the good news is that H1N1 isn't as bad as the seasonal flu (though bad enough). Monitor your condition and see your doctor if you have chest tightness and pain around Day 8. That could be bacterial pneumonia which will need something a bit stronger than Lamb's or Gosling's to shift.
Keep us posted, stay wrapped in a blanket, and just ride it out. You have my permission to whimper and moan and make the most out of the experience.
Get well soon!

Many thanks for the well wishings -
Unfortunately I am deteriorating fast - I now ache in joints where I did not even know that I bent.
I sent out for menthol and eucalyptus, so breathing is possible if a little more noisy than usual.
The afternoon enveloped in a cosy wool wrap was enjoyable but brought no improving of my state, so I will take to my bed and not emerge into the inclement weather until things improve.
