That's very good work on both items. Did you come up with the idea to add in links to the Byzantine design, or does something like that already exist. I've always wanted an entire sporran chain based on a Byzantine design.

Unusual blade, my first thought was oyster knife. Why did you choose that design?

I was thinking that, too. I was also thinking, "Man, there's a story behind that knife, I'll bet!"

Why'n'cha fill us in? I LIKE that haft, especially how it's flat on the "leg side."

    re

thank you all, i wish there was some romantic reason i chose that blade style LOL...actually what went through my mind when making it was since i wear my kilt on the mean streets of detroit at times i was looking for a heavy dependable self defense style blade (not that i think i would ever need or use one LOL)
whenever i've made bladed items in the past i just sorta let the metal speak to me and it becomes whatever it becomes...hey thats kinda romantic.
as far as the chain no i didnt come up the design, i've only been making chainmaille for about 2 years now and i get most of my design ideas from a great site htp://mailleartisans.org/
i made a wallet chain using that same weave since then have i sold about 50 wallets chains LOL ans since making my hangers i have sold a few of those as well. the stainless is a wee bit heavy but not unbearable i recently made a wallet chain (same weave) using titanium wich is soooo nice and light and strong but expensive and unless its anondized a color, its a powdery grey until it gets alot of wear then it looks like gun metal grey, wich i think looks great, feel free to contact me, i would be glad to make you a set of hangers but just remember i do it as a hobby in my spare time so rush orders are a no go LOL

Nice job on the knife, and the byzantine hangers are beautiful, but how do they work? I have made leather hangers that snap over the belt and clip to the sporran. Do you wrap them around the belt and hook both clips on the sporran?

REALLY like that knife. It looks like re-purposed antique file, at least from what the handle looks like. You might want to impregnate the inside of your sheaths with wax in future to protect the blade from leather tanning residue.
