I learned not to wear a belt with a vest/waistcoat. But that was always with trousers. While searching for information on what to wear with a kilt. I found almost only pictures of man in full/semi dress with belt. Is it normal to wear a belt when you are wearing a prince charlie?

I'm usually a 'belt person' but I'm finding that wearing a belt with a kilt all the time isn't really necessary. If i'm wearing a waistcoat/vest, sweater or t-shirt - chances are I won't be wearing one. However, if I'm going for a more dressy or traditional look, then I'll be wearing a belt.

Check out the Fleet Farm in Blaine. I bought a 2" black belt there that works great for kilts. I think it was $12.00

For certain Kilts which are a little loose now that I have lost weight I will wear a belt, but as a general rule you don't wear a belt when you are wearing a vest. It's something for when you have the upper garment tucked in and nothing covering the top of the Kilt. and even then, you don't have to.

A belt seems to finish the look if you are not wearing a vest.
