Mt preference is the "Brooklands" motoring cap from The Complete Automobilist (www.completeautomobilist.com) which not only provides ear flaps, but neck protection as well.

That does look like a nice warm cap. I don't care for the styling at all.

That's a great looking flat cap, Bob. With the flaps down it still looks good and practical. Nice job with the self photographs.

That style of cap reminds me of the famous "gorblimey" forage cap that the Tommies wore in the First World War:

I would recognise that style as the "Bugatti" too. The stalkers prefer to use this style of bonnet, rather than the "fore and aft" , or "deer stalker" out on the hill at this time of year, as they provide neck protection from the severe cold and they don't blow off.

I actually wore my "mad bomber" (aka Biggles) today when I took my Morgan out for a spin (figuratively, not literally despite some ice and 24+ inches of snow on the ground). I find the Brooklands cap the perfect cap for top down motoring in the evening as it will stay on even at speeds in excess of the legal limit.

As for calling it a Bugatti cap-- ye gods! What would Benjafield, Birkin, and Barnato say??
