Just outside of Lake Louise

The little town of Field, which at one time was a a bustling railway town. Just east of here are two spiral tunnels carved into the mountains about 100 years ago to reduce a grade of 4.5% down to a more manageable 2.2%(which is still pretty significant). Being at the bottom of the 'Big Hill' Field was the scene of some spectacular wrecks when a train's brakes failed.

The moon peeking out in the Rogers Pass.

Last picture in Rogers Pass, which was opened back in the early 60's to eliminate a treacherous route through unhospitable country. At the time the highway through the pass was considered an engineering marvel.

It's not often we get weather this beautiful when travelling through the Rockies...the temp was around -15C and the roads were mostly clear. Made for a very enjoyable trip.
