    Need help with party outfit

I'm pretty new to wearing a kilt. Only wore it in public once. So new I only have 1 kilt, a full black budget pv. And a tailcoat converted to a PC lookalike. my outfit Because I'm in the middle of moving to my new house, I forgot to order a new budget kilt for my new years party. (yes I know I'm supposed to be saving for a real kilt, but I will not survive half a year with only the black kilt!)
This party I'll have to do with the black kilt or pants.
What to wear, what to wear.
I have lot's of jackets, diner jackets, sports jackets, tweed etc. But no time to have any tailored into an argyll/breamer. The PC would be overdressed, the party is casual / casual chic. (Dress) Shirt/ buttondown /polo. a tie could be worn. Bow tie is too much. There will probably even be people in jeans
If you look at the 1 kilt in 10 looks tread I'll have to be somewhere in the first 4 looks. But I'm afraid It will look overdressed or maybe boring because the Kilt is black.
Could I wear a normal jacket, or would it look wrong, Or just a sweater/ hoodie polo, shirt+tie
    Please help...
maybe someone has some pictures of single colour kilt outfits.

I would go for a shirt and tie with a V neck lightweight jumper. A funky, fun type tie in bright colours would make the outfit more casual. Maybe even a fun button badge type kilt pin.

Nothing wrong with a black kilt - it makes a good background for your accessories.

    Regards

It does indeed make a good background for accessories. I spent the last hour looking trough lot's of picture galleries here and now I'm sure I will wear my Kilt, and have some ideas about how to wear it.
    thanks

Sweaters look great with kilts this time of year... in the Northern half of the Planet.

Shirt with jumper or shirt and tie - jumper optional.
Wear a casual or semi-dress sporran with no cantle if you have one.

    kunie,

I would suggest a nice sweater over a button up dress shirt (with or without a tie as appropriate) for a more traditional look or a nice turtleneck shirt and a short leather jacket for a more sporty one.

    Cheers

    How about all black?

    - Black turtleneck sweater
    - Black fitted buttondown shirt?

I wore a dress shirt and sweater vest (which I think is called a sleeveless jumper in the UK) on Christmas. It looks nice, but not overly dressy.

I'm now thinking of a black dress shirt with a bright red tie, red kiltpin.black kilt, hose, sporran and waistcoat.
