If you hunt with a firearm a cartridge belt can be useful. Otherwise, what's the point?

Guessing you'd find a pic or two in the Utilikilts gallery on their website. Know I've seen it done before with Utilikilts - but handgun ammo cartridges in the belt.

I believe he is refering to the brass attached together with metal links.. As for the look, to each their own, if you like it for the event you are wearing it... Enjoy.. As for me, it's not my thing...

I suppose it might look interesting, but you'd find out very quickly how uncomfortable it can be the first time you have to sit down; every belt-fed firearm I can think of uses a cartridge at least 2 1/2" long, and they have pointy bits at one end that tend to dig into tender parts. You might also have to deal with panicky sheeple, who assume that "Gasp! You must be getting ready to go on a shooting spree!", as happened recently in the Ottawa area, when someone was seen wearing a similar belt.

I am in the proccess of making my own out of some casings and links that I have. Tobus, we're not talking about the same thing. I'm talking about belt-fed machine gun ammunition. When I'm finished I'll post pics. Thanks everybody.

Ah, I see. Belt-fed links. Hopefully these won't be live rounds? It's simple enough, though, if you have reloading equipment to seat some new bullets in spent and empty cartridge cases (I'd leave the old spent primers in place).

As someone else mentioned, depending on the caliber used (I'm guessing this will be .30-06 or .308, maybe 7.62x54R or .303 British, or in that size range), it could be very uncomfortable with the bullet tips pointing down when you sit or bend over. Although perhaps if you're wearing it up at your natural waist it wouldn't be so bad.

The main thing I'd worry about, though, is how the links and/or bullet tips will wear your kilt. Maybe a leather backing would be a good idea to keep it from rubbing the kilt fabric.

I'd be curious to see the finished product.

This type of belt was very popular in the mid 70's. I can remember wearing one to a street party for the celebration of the Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977. The question then, as now, was points up or points down?

I see you already have links...and I'm not sure what caliber cartridges you are using. BUT. I will tell you that there is a store near me that sells dummy machine gun rounds already in links. They have multiple cartridges, let me know if you'd like more info...they have a website.

Put a few extra kilt pins on the kilt and razor it a few times. In 1975/6, Punk guru and Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren only got as far as trews with straps between the legs etc !
