    Hi,

Wow, that's a frightening amount of damage; thankfully, your quick reactions averted a more serious crash.

    Best wishes.
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

God bless divine providence, quick reflexes, seat belts and airbags, EMT rescue teams, Woolite (for your kilt hose), the healing power of the human body and mind, and God bless you and your family.

Hopefully god bless insurance companies for making right what they can as well.

    Jeff

I'm so very, very glad to hear you're O.K. I hope that the fool learned his lesson and is lawfully punished for his lack of care and sense.
But the important thing is that you two and your boys are )Relatively) unscathed. but brave lads you have!

And that, is a very, very, very good truck!

FYI, that "frightening amount of damage" is designed into the vehicle. It's called a crumple zone, and absorbs the impact energy before it can reach the passenger compartment. The photo is a perfect example of safety engineering at work -- the hood and front clip are sacrificed in order to protect the cabin.

There's an interesting video on YouTube showing a modern-day frontal crash test between (IIRC) a current model Chevy Malibu and a mid-50s big Chevy sedan. People like to think that all the weight and sheet metal surrounding them in older cars equalled safety, but this video shows just the opposite.

Boy, stepping on and off this soapbox is good exercise!

You are much too nice. Had my wife and children been in the car they would still be trying to pry my hands off that fools neck. Glad you and your family are all safe.
