Not sure how long the sale will last so act now if you are interested.

I am seriously looking at a Navy Argyll, and debating whether I want to modify the buttons to horn or not.

One can only wonder why they are on sale.Perhaps people did not like them? If it was my money, I would keep it in my pocket.

Could it simply be that the economy is so bad that this is precisely what people are doing? Or does this supplier have a bad rep?

Whilst I have never dealt with Hector Russell, they do have a fine reputation as far as I am aware.

I have made three purchases from them and have been well pleased by all- Tweed daytime jackets and vest. I did need to contact them on one of the purchases becase it seems the internet order was lost, but that was easily straightened out by a phone call.

Theyve been on sale for around 2 months... they look pretty good and I tried to order 1 online - paid and everything. They sent me a refund and told me the size wasnt instock.
I went into the store and they only had 12 jackets - all 44+ sizes. I asked if they would have a 40L in soon in any colour and they said maybe and they'd give me a call but I havent heard from them.
If I didnt already have a charcoal tweed I'd buy one of theirs for £100 - which is still a great price.

From what I gathered these colours don't sell too well but they're still stocking new ones and ordering in sizes (although not mine, aparently!)
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

    Sionnach, how do their sizes run? From Jos A Bank I would get a 50 R, would I order a 52 R?

I wear 42R and so order 44R which fits me perfectly. Seems that UK sizes run slightly smaller than US sizes.

    All the best,

My experience has been the same, although not directly with Hector Russell, but other scottish/british vendors. I normally wear a 50xl in Jos A Bank sport coats, and order a 52L in kilt jackets from the UK, which have all (3 for 3) fit me well so far.

When I was in Glasgow last summer, I visited the Hector Russell store. I purchased their tweed jacket which was on sale. A great value. Their Argyll jackets were on sale and I have been on the look out for a Navy one the last few years. But HR did not have my size, 44 - Paul!

So thanks to FM I now have a navy Argyll on the way! Thanks for the heads up, FM!
