    The question is...

...Do you know the Bishop of Winchester?

Let's see if anyone (besides Jock of course, since he has the advantage) knows the correct answer to this question in regards to the ritual of passing the port!

I hope there is never a need for the question to be asked!

All this is new (and fascinating) to me.

Suppose I wanted a good bottle of port. Apart from Jock Scot's cellar, where should I begin looking?

I'm told he's a wonderful fellow, though I haven't mede his acquaintance myself. Forgive me! would you care for a glass?
'A damned ill-conditioned sort of an ape. It had a can of ale at every pot-house on the road, and is reeling drunk. "

He's a capital fellow, but he never passes the port.

I'm late getting in on this discussion. My good friend Steve and I are a bit Anglo- and Alba-philic, and a few years ago, after reading many Victorian and Georgian -setting novels where port featured, we decided to try it out. Being obsessive types, we did a great deal of research about all of the things Jock mentions.

We're educated enough in our pallets now that we prefer tawny to ruby for serious occasions, but neither of us really has the money to venture into vintage ports, just yet.

Of course, it has also occurred that we'll get a bottle of Warre's or Fronseca's Bin No. 27, and drink it from the bottle while playing video games on a night his wife and child are visiting the grandparents. 8)
