It sounds like SteveB has the honors of being the one on here to have been the one to start kiltwearing at the tenderest age.
I had been drawn to wearing a kilt about ten years ago, but knew nothing about it, since I have no Scottish heritage. When I later learned that I did have Celtic heritage and that there was a NYC tartan which was dedicated to the 9/11 experience, I knew I had to get one.

It is amazing that more native scots like SteveB don't have infant kilt experiences, as prevalent as they are for things like christenings and such. But then again, if pictures were not taken there would be no way to know since the kilted would be too young to remember.
My son Carter (pictured in my current avatar) was in his MacDonald infant kilt within 11 days of birth when he attended the Phoenix Highland Games Feb 19, 2008, same day as my first kilt wearing. Because he is not an official member of the forum, and cannot type the keyboard himself to join and post, we will leave him out of the contest. If I can find them I will post photos of him kilted in his pram.

First strapped one on last St. Pattie's day, so 29. Guess kilts are my mid-life crisis ;)

When I have the time to figure out how to post pics, I'll put up one of a great uncle of mine, probably under one year of age. He was born in 1898.
Sadly, he died of a congenital patent foramen ovale (hole in the heart) aged 17.

At the Culloden Battlefield, I tried on the great kilt they had at a display in the information center. It was December of 1992, and I had turned 18 the month prior. I bought material for my own great kilt the same week. Started wearing it to school the next semester.

My wife of 31 years has always said that I still haven’t grown up. So, I’m going to say my first kilt experience was at a tender age of 51, and I’m hooked.
