Thankyou for that. I've just googled them and my word don't they have a good reputation! I'm toying with the idea of going skiing up there in february if the weather holds so might be tempted to treat myself.

In my humble opinion there are few that equal them, but not one will better them.

Should we discussing political parties here? I know we are talking tartans, but a tartan of a political party? Sorry Paul, I don't mean to rain on your parade.
Jock, I simply answered Bruce's question.
I did not once discuss politics, not the political party. I stated the name of the tartan I wish to have a kilt made from. I did not state any opinion towards politics, nor break any forum rules.
I did not initially mention which tartan I wished to have a kilt made of for the reason that I did not wish for this to have any impact upon topics discussed within the thread. I would appreciate if you would honor this.
So to answer your original question, no Jock, we should not be discussing political parties on this forum. This is why I am not.
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I just payed $550 for a had stitched kilt in my MacDonagh tartan. The material had to be specially woven by D.C. Dalgliesh in Scotland, as this is a rare piece of material. It's currently in the making, so I can't wait for it to be completed.
Needless to say, I did not inform my 'better half' of this deed. Will she be surprised when it shows up!

In a pre-kilt life I needed to have three piece suits for business and would not blink an eye at spending $300-$500 for that suit. I don't see any reason to alter my thinking now. This would be my perfect kilt and would probably never buy another one after that.

And when it does come I bet you don't inform her of the full cost!

I went into Slanj and ordered the kilt today
They take a £100 deposit and I can pay the rest when I collect it. Best of all they'll have it ready in 4 weeks for me going upto Inverness!
