Shocking a true Patriot, sad news
“I stand before this flag. The white Saltire of St Andrew in the blue summers’ sky.
It represents the soil from which I sprang, and to which, one day, I must return.
It represents Scotland.
As it was. As it is. As it always will be.”

For those who have never seen David and his intro for Albannach, here is a link. He will be truly missed. I hope that the band dose some kind of tribute as they tour in the coming year.

(forwarded from Albannach's site)
Before he passed, big Dave was committed to getting the "Wallace Safe Conduct" letter back into Scottish hands - by having people sign a petition this year at all our games - which he hoped would put some pressure on both our and the UK governments to have the National Archives in London release the letter to The National Galleries in Scotland.
As free people of the nation of Scotland, we have many brothers and sisters scattered all over this world, all of whom hold Scotland and all of her treasures close to their hearts. One of our most beloved treasures is the memory of one of Scotlands, if not her greatest son, Sir William Wallace.
As it stands we have very few items remaining that can help keep the legacy of Wallace alive for future generations to marvel at, and draw inspiration from. However there is one item that exists and we would like to have it brought home to Scotland where it belongs so that her people can view it and somehow feel closer to thier national hero, we therefore would like you to sign this petition to have the Wallace Safe Conduct Letter" brought home to Scotland.

Many of you had the privilege of meeting him, sadly I did not but I did always knew of him.
It's always sad when a patriotic Scot is fallen, though, I'm sure he'll be glad of many following in his footsteps as enthusiastically.
R.I.P. David
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.
