My tartan registered with Scottish Register of Tartans!
"Oren Peterson" tartan ref. #10127
Thanks to all of you who gave advice regarding the original design and to those of you who gave me the encouragement to not only have this tartan created (and made into a great fitting and looking kilt by Matt Newsome) but to also have it registered.
As some may remember in previous posts concerning this tartan design, this was done as a way of honoring my late grandfather and his love of our family's history and the mountains he called home.
I have registered this as a surname tartan and it is of course unrestricted. If you have a connection to the surname or the details of the tartans' representation, I'd be honored by any who choose to wear it. Even if you just like the 'look'. Please consider having Matt Newsome as your kilt maker. Not only did he assist with this, but the man for which this tartan is named had a special relationship to Franklin, NC.

Wow that email I got this morning was you! That is awesome! I really like the tartan, it looks great. I really like the info you included explaining your color choices. Well done!
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Thanks fellas,
If you've ever thought about doing something like this, I recommend going through with it. Its not just the finished product, but I learned so much through the process.

Congratulations on the registration. Correct me if I'm wrong, but in your original post, didn't you state this tartan was being considered for recognition by a clan?

Really nice tartan - good to see one with a lot of blue in it!
