One point.....Due to the logistics of the situation (coming from the US) I need to spend Monday night after the event in a city very close to the airport. I usually spend the night in a hotel just across the street from the terminal in Glasgow but this year flights to Glasgow are a bit expensive so I'm looking at Newcastle. Any ideas on a hotel that won't break the bank near / at the Newcastle airport? I usually spend £50 or £60 for a night in Glasgow and would like to keep to that if possible. A 6:00 AM flight is hard enough to make w/o being too far away.

Ideas / locations would be appreciated.

Who else is there in March?
The Premier Inn at Newastle Aiport is pretty good & cheap. I just checked and if you're staying yourself itll be £29 for the one night:

I have stayed overnight at the Britannia at Newcastle Airport a few times if I have had to be sure of catching a very early morning flight.

Co-incidentally I am planning to spend a few days with Ancienne Alliance and Lady Chrystel in March and my flight back from Geneva is due to arrive in Newcastle Airport on the Friday (26th March) around lunchtime. My car should be in the car park at Newcastle Airport and I plan to drive direct from there to Dumfries as I am also planning to attend the March Burns Supper weekend. I plan on staying in Dumfries until the Sunday but could stay an extra day or two as I have no commitments at the start of the following week.

If you want to save the expense of car hire I can meet you at Newcastle Airport and take you to Dumfries with me on the Friday. I can also drive you back to Newcastle Airport at the end of your stay and if you want an extra night in Scotland you have the option to stay here with me in Hawick, which is only an hour's drive from Newcastle Airport.

Feel free to pm me about your plans.

Yes indeed, Prestwick is the correct address for Newcastle Airport!!
Newcastle Airport is situated at a village called Prestwick about ten miles north-east of Newcastle city centre.
Confusingly there is another international airport at the seaside town of Prestwick in Scotland, which is often referred to as Glasgow Prestwick as it is only about thirty miles from Glasgow, and to avoid confusion with Newcastle Prestwick.

    Hi Paul,

I'm booked in for Burns Night II in March. Should have at least one new kilt (if not two) by then.

Lolol. It's a long enough trip without having 'slept' in an airport lounge the night before. I'm grumpy enough traveling anyway.

But thanks for the suggestion. ith:

    Hello Dee,

I'm glad to hear you are going to make it back to Dumfries this year. Unfortunately I won't see you because I'm booked for the January weekend.

I would like to come in March some day, but this year I may be back in the USA for a couple of weeks during that time period.

Hope you enjoy your trip. I know I'm anxious to go in a couple of weeks!

    Tom

    Take care,

    Great!
I'm in the exact same boat. I should definetely have one, although I may also persuade myself into getting an Irish county or national tartan too before March!

    P.S.
Any females attending the Burns supper?!
