Another hangover avoidence is to spend less time with the liquer and more time with the ladies. Either way you're still liable to wake up wondering what the hell you did last night but the head won't hurt and an early morning tumble is invigorating.

We went to the beer hall to polka hardcore. Guess the beer might have outweighed the dancing!

No voice for carbonated beverages? While I don't drink enough to get a full on hangover, I still rely on a coke instead of a cup of decaf to get my morning off correctly. Once that settles, on to a meal ( I normally don't eat in the morning) and I'm right again

before i go to sleep, i take two asprin and drink as much water as i can get down, usually between 2-3 glasses. and yes, a couple of biscuits.

slow start in the morning with a coke and then on to the full irish breakfast. ready to face the day by 10 or 11 am, if i'm lucky enough to have that long of a lie in.

I try to limit my hangovers to 1 a year (or less) preferably. The best way is prevention. This may sound like a buzzkill, but setting how many drinks you're going to have ahead of time (before you go out) is an excellent idea... Decide on a number that won't have you waking up crispy in the a.m. Then, don't let yourself be talked into, coerced, convinced or pressured into drinking more than what you've decided to have.

I find that when I'm out with friends and I switch to non-alcoholic drinks mid-way through, no one notices anyway... Especially if it's not beer or wine. After a few gin & tonics, absolutely NO ONE will notice that you've switched to only tonic...

Finally, as Irish said... If you DO overdo it, I find that the only thing that can (and often does) prevent a nasty hangover, is lots & lots & lots & lots & lots of water before bed. I try to drink at least 2 tall glasses of water for every drink I've had.

This New Year's Day I had a hangover that could fell an elephant, but that's getting quite rare for me. I don't drink with nearly the same intensity I did in college -- I've slowed down a lot.

I am normally an advocate of moderation, I drink 2 beers during a ballgame, or 2 drinks at home at night, 2 or 3 times a week. When I have 4, generally over a 4 hour period, I don't sleep well and I'll have a cranky headache in the am. But if I start at noon, drink beer all day and into the night, I pop up in great shape. Can't figure it out, but the half dozen times a year I do it it is the same

How many before being in the mood for public karaoke ? I need 2 beers before I can torture the mike ! (The pub manager usually puts me on just before closing time !)

Don't know, I've never had that much!

All day events I am generally on the grill for several hours, catching up with friends, eating between shifts, transitioning to a bonfire for the night. We host all of good friends and a few of the family members in August to celebrate a couple of birthdays, it has just become tradition. Within the group, three other couples have decided they like the concept and they host a similar day as well. I am chief cook at all of the events
