    Finally!!!

OK everyone, I finally got the go ahead to order my MacLean Hunting Modern 16oz from Starthmore Mills. We have sized me up and the mill will get things started on 2-10-10.....As soon as I get the kilt, pics will be posted.....(excitement builds) Question, what is the average time from order to receipt of the kilt from Scotland? 8 weeks? Anyone care to chime in? Thanks, Eric Schutte

The largest variables are whether the tartan is in readily available stock or needs to be woven, then where in the queue of the kiltmaker you happen to fall (if their kiltmaker is busy it could be a month or two). The last variable is shipping, more actually customs at the US border, which may hold onto a package for several weeks sometimes, depending on which shipper is used to transport the kilt to the US.

Generally stock tartans can be turned around and shipped in 4-6 weeks typically, faster if you put a rush request (and accompanying charge) on it, then it is again up to shipping to get it to you. Most of mine built from stock took about 8 weeks or so to recieve them from Scotland. You should ask your kiltmaker or an estimated time of completion as well as notification of shipping and tracking information, so you will know preciesely when to start drooling and checking the front stoop every hour in true jones fashion.

Enjoy it when it arrives. Remember to post pictures here, because xmarks rule number 1 is "It didn't happen if there are no pictures!!!"

    Pics will be posted

Thanks Forrester Modern for your information. Fortunately this is a stock tartan and, just as you said, Strathmore Mills quoted approx. 6 weeks to dispatch it to the states.

Pics will be posted so stay tuned!!!

Congratulations Eric. Sounds like you'll be in a new kilt around mid March. Look forward to seeing the photos. One more thing,...what's the tartan?

    I know....agony!

    Hi Ali,

How right you are...it is agonizing to have to wait, especially when you consider that I probably won't be able to go to Burns Night this year with a kilt.....I HATE waiting....wwaahhh, waaahhh, wine, wine, snivel, snivel...LOL

You've never been on Matt's waiting list have you? Look at it this way, when it does show up the wait is worth it.

    Eric,
As I said the other day when we met, you should go to the Burns' Night anyway. Come and enjoy the evening and let me know if you're coming and I set a place for you.

I also know what it's like to wait for a kilt. I'm out to 18 months waiting for one as of the 2 February, 2010.

You mean he isn't supposed to start that now?

I believe that the kilt I ordered from Scotland about 7 1/2 weeks to get to me. No problems with customs, at least that I am aware of.
Being MacLean related I can't wait to see you new kilt. Happy kilting!
