Both House of Edgar and Marton Mills do Irish county tartans, and they are entirely different from eachother. I have County Cork (HoE) and Irish National kilts, as well as solid green and solid saffron, which are all traditionally Irish. Sorry, I don't have pictures.

A couple years ago, when I was considering a Cavan kilt, I came across the following photo of a wedding party wearing lovely Cavan kilts. But all the actual samples of Cavan cloth I've seen aren't nearly this nice, being brown and orange. I don't know who wove the tartan seen in this photo. Maybe this photo has simply distorted the colours, accidentally improving them...

The House of Edgar owns the Irish County Tartans collection, and this design is one of theirs, so it was almost certainly woven by them. The colors have remained the same since the beginning of their collection (1995), so I'm not sure why there would be a difference. The ones pictured look just like the Co. Cavan tartan that we have here in our swatch book.
BTW... I inserted the swatch into the post (pic above) to show the colors side by side. Please note that the swatch pic IS a CGI of the tartan, but the colors are pretty accurate to the real life material.

I concurr, Rocky. The colors in that photo look pretty much like all the County Cavan cloth from House of Edgar I have worked with.

Yes that swatch looks fairly similar to the kilts in the photo, but notice that it's plain weave, in other words not kilting tartan. The swatches of actual kilting tartan I've seen, as well as scarves etc, are somewhat different, the red being not this 'cool' red but more of a scarlet, etc.
I saw a swatch in a sample book just yesterday and its colours had the overall orange & olive look I've seen, not the grey & cool red in the group photo above. As I said, I suspect that it's just a matter of the colour "temperature" of that particular photo being off, accidentally improving the tartan to my eye.
