what to do with your tartan neckties

Here's an idea for someone who has lot of tartan ties, or for a Scottish/St. Andrew's Society. Gather as many different tartan ties as you can, and sew them into a Christmas tree skirt, similar to this one from sewingwithneckties.blogspot.com:

It seems to me that this would be a real conversation piece for a Scottish society, and would involve a lot of good-natured "feuding" about which tartans to place next to each other, and which to place far apart.

By the way, I did not make this tree skirt nor have I ever made one.

"Investment" might be a better word. It could become a priceless heirloom for the group or family which possessed it. If anyone happened to know a kiltmaker who had some tartan scraps left over, he/she could make one of these and not harm any ties.*

*No ties were harmed in the production of this tree skirt.

That's awesome! We couldn't find our tree skirt this year, so I used a SWK thrifty and kilted our tree! My family thought it was hilarious...

Those little stocking ornaments on your tree could also be cut from an old tartan tie.
