That guy is a great actor... I used to think he was odd... but in time, he has shown his talents..

yeah i know what you mean about seeming odd for years he always went for those different roles , but now i see him as one of my generations great actors and the fact the man is so humble and down to earth speaks volumes in this day and age

I don't see the conflict, he is both. He is akin to Michel Keaton.
Keaton:
Mr. Mom vs. My So Called Life
Beetlejuice vs Batman
Johnny Dangerously vs. Desperate Measures
Depp
Ninth Gate vs Willy Wonka
What's eating Gilbert Grape vs. Pirates of the Caribbean

My wife adores Depp; maybe this will get her on board with the kilts. ("Lukewarm" would be a strong overstatement.)

Just had a light bulb moment. My wife is the same way and also adores Depp. Thank you for the tip.
And I agree. He is a great actor who didnt seem to fall in the "Im to good for everybody" hole that alot of the actors of our generation did.

My first attempt didn't go do well.
Me: "You know, Depp is wearing a kilt in Alice in Wonderland."
Wife: "Yeah, but he's Johnny Depp."

Sooner or later, I'll wear her down. Or I'll have a sure-fire way to ensure I won't have "the ol' ball and chain" tagging along to the pub.

Did you really just refer to your wife as "The ol' ball and chain?" Tsk tsk. Since she isn't here to defend herself, I'll be offended on her behalf.

Ya know, I've seen all the trailers and I never noticed until I read this post. Now, I definitely recall Depp in a kilt. Anyways, I hardly notice things like that anymore. I was talking to a customer at work the other day for about 30 minutes before I realized she looked like she fell face first into a tackle box.
