Jock,
So would you wear hose up with boots? or just avoid boots? Being new to this (kilting) I want to do it the "right " way. I tend to lean towards traditional in most things.
Thanks,
Joe

Always hose up, on the rare occasion that I wear boots with the kilt. Remember, the Jocks going over the top in WW1 had their hose up and I am not at all sure that the RSM would accept that minor little detail of a battle, as a valid excuse for your hose to be anything other than, hose up!

Joe,
The awful truth is that there isn't a "right" way. One aspect of wearing clothes well is to be comfortable, both physically and emotionally, in what you are wearing. If you do not feel comfortable, you will not look comfortable. You've seen pictures of hose worn up and down; they can look good either way. Pull your socks up or push them down, then forget about them and get along with the business at hand. Don't let minor details get in the way of enjoying being kilted!
Have fun!
