I don't think it's at all strange Matter of fact, that 'kilt sighting' report was something that showed me just how popular and widespread xmarks was. I've had people come up to me while competing at games or running the clan tent and ask if I'm the DetroitPete from Xmarks. Sometimes I find after some of these events that we just connect on here.

Sometimes you can yell out and say hey, other times the situation just doesn't seem right, or that you may be interrupting. One thing is sure though, if I see another man kilted anywhere out and about he at least gets a nod of recognition from me

Yeah...I'd just yell out, "Oy! Nice kilt!" but I'm afraid that I've encountered too many wiseasses hereabouts who say it sarcastically and I'd hate for another member of the brotherhood to think that he was being insulted by one of the locals.

Some folks probably find it weird because to them...well...it's just an article of clothing. How many leather bomber jacket forums or converse shoe forums are there out there? What they don't get, is that at least for most of us, it is a conscious effort to celebrate and reconnect with our heritage. For those who don't share that heritage(and by heritage I am including the other "Celtic" nations since the kilt has caught on as a modern pan-Celtic expression sort of thing)it might be about breaking ridiculous gender stereotypes or simply being sick to death of cumbersome pants. Either way, there is more to it than just clothing and most folk just won't "get it".

I might just for the experience You know I've never seen a man in a kilt that wasn't also in a parade? Although the ones in last year's July 4th parade looked so sharp that I almost broke my neck turning to look at them

The parade comment is quite apropos....there are a lot of stories here about kilted members being asked, "Where's the parade?" or "Who died?", assuming that the kiltie in question is a piper and just came from a funeral.

I think Craigs List has a "missed connections" feature which allows people to flirt with strangers they might have passed on a train or walking down the street, with the hope (?) that they'd actually read the ad and know it was them being discussed...

If people do that, I certainly don't think a kilt sighting inquiry is odd at all
