Yes, it is Bold Blade's own design -- they got Ted Sheldon to make them. But I don't think they have any exclusive deal with Ted. Anyone who sells Ted's jewelery (such as our museum gift shop) can order them right out of his catalog.

The owner of Bold Blades (who is a friend of ours) is also a member of clan Gunn, and I think came up with the idea of a "Gun" kilt pin (har-har), primarily to sell to the clan society.

    I love that kilt pin!

But you know, Highland steel pistols were always worn in pairs, so it would be cool to have two of them...

What's especially nice about that pistol kilt pin to my eye is that it continued the traditional kilt pin thing of featuring weaponry: a standard kilt pin in the 1930's up through the 1960's was a basket-hilt sword superimposed on a targe. It's as if the old traditional weaponry that wasn't being actually worn was being perpetuated in the kilt pin.

    Question Kilt pins help

    Hello folks!
I am in need of some assistance if you could. I have inherited 3 pins which I remember my family wearing when I was just a little girl. The pins are claws with long nails, one has a purple stone in it and the others have yellow stones. There are deer or elk heards in silver at the base with antlers surrounding the stones.
I am trying to find out what clan these might go to and if there is a value to them. My family wore a Black Watch tartan but was told I may be part of the Buchanan clan?
Any and all help would be appreciated. My family are all gone and I have no one left to ask.
