Not sure where the "pet peeve" comes in. Don't recall ever being concerned about shipping from STM before.

Would think anyone who was ordering six garter ties and had the shipping pegged at so much for so little would wonder. For me, it got worse today ordering the heavy sweat shirts and getting the shipping of them for so much less.

Do think its a fair question and thank you for answering it in such detail. And you're right Bradley, I should a/could a emailed but the shipping didn't pop up until the end of the ordering process and it never occured to me up front it'd be so much for such a small package.

Customers do have a right to ask questions about the fees they are paying. Don't think there's anything "wrong" with me for asking.

I am pleased your SNOW sale is going well. My intent in ordering the ties was to support the effort. I've purchased a couple thousand dollars worth of Lewis Kilt hose and traditional garter ties from the STM - even got my L&M Dress sporran through there. Pleased to have them as a trusted resource. Hope some day to visit if I'm ever in that neck of the woods before I die.

I look forward to receiving the traditional garter ties and having a wider range of color available. I wear them by choice both for comfort and looks. Every time I have to decide what flashes to wear I look at my elastic flashes and then my traditional garter ties and choose the garter ties every time.

    Ron,

I'm glad you've been happy with all of your purchases thus far from the museum. As I mentioned before, you are a valued customer and we do appreciate your long history of supporting our efforts. Which is why it seemed strange to me that you would suddenly take issue with our shipping charges. As I said, they have not changed at all over the past couple of years.

We don't want anyone to be surprised by an unexpected shipping charge, which is why we have a link to our shipping and return policy page at the top of every page in our gift shop catalog.

Oh, and I only used the phrase "pet peeve" because you had mentioned the amount of shipping you were charged three times already in this thread, so I assumed it was an important issue for you.

I can't really comment about the amount you were charged for shipping for the sweatshirts you ordered from another company, except to say it sounds like you got a pretty good deal and I'd be happy about it.

    Incoming!!!

Ordered a set of lovat green hose (need something besides the white), red garters (going for the traditional look), a set of kilt extenders (rough holiday season), and of course a raffle ticket. I'm feeling lucky so get a Sea Bee ready to go!

My order will have to wait until tomorrow, when I'm back home and can check where the holes are in my wardrobe.
But the mention of snow and the Museum together made me think - I hope a few people take advantage of the rebate to order Storm Capes and tweed kilt suits. I was wearing mine Thursday night, and was comfortable while I walked about ¾ mile in -10〬F (-23 C) wind chills.

    Hi, guys!

From a few emails I have received there seems to be some confusion over just where I'm asking you to input the word "SNOW" to receive the rebate.

Some folks are attempting to enter this in as a promotional code or coupon. That is not what this is. (I'm not that tech savy - yet!).

I'm asking you to enter this in as "special instructions." When we receive the order on our end, part of the order details shows whatever you input in as special instructions to us. If I see the word "SNOW" on an order, I'll know to give it the rebate on Monday.

Just so we are clear, here is a screen shot of what the typical order check-out page will look like, before you select your payment method to check out. I've circled in red where you need to click to add the word "SNOW".

Once again, this rebate will be in the form of a partial refund to your order that I will issue myself on Monday. Only orders received on-line by 5pm Eastern Time on Monday (when we close) will get the rebate. And this is for on -line orders only, not applicable to phone orders or in-store purchases.

Lastly, if anyone has any issues with this and can't figure out where to input the word "SNOW" or you just clicked through too fast and missed it, don't worry. Just email the museum at tartans@scottishtartans.org and identify the order and say you'd like the SNOW rebate before 5pm on Monday.

    Thanks!

Ahhhh! I didn't even see that part...I'm used to the open box for a message...feeling much better that I knew not to put it in the promotional code box though and that I'm not the only blind confused one out there....

Know we can trust Matt to shake it out somehow, someway. Hope it does help with the lost revenue due to snow. Had the same effect on the agency I work at when the snows hit - lost a lot of revenue.

Thanks for this comment on keeping warm in cold weather. I was wondering about that.

    • This January has been so cold and snowy!
    • Wompet gave a good review on its suitability in cold weather.
    • And Ron, it’s over $200 so free shipping!!!!!!!!!!!
    Order placed!
