I might sugggest looking at Skye Highland Outfitters. Not sure if they have the color you need, but they have an 8yard machine stitched wool kilt for 299.00. That beats most of the vendors mentioned here. There was a recent review on this kilit here:

I own both 5 yard and 8 yard knife pleat kilts. The 5 yard is obviously lighter in total weight, but I'm very pleased with them. If this is a kilt you may only wear rarely, if at all after the wedding, I would go for the 5 yard and spend the difference on accessories.

A 5 yard USAKilt is a fine choice. It is not a heavy 16oz., 8 yard tank, but a truly fine kilt for what they are.
Another choice to consider if you want to keep your cost down, is the 'Heritage of Scotland Kilt' by MacKinnon's kilts. It is an inexpensive 16oz. Polyviscose blend, and they likely have your size in stock. If you are interested, check it out at:

Any way you go, enjoy your new kilt!

My 2 cents, I have had dealings with both Scotweb and USAKilts, both vendors have given me excellent service and quality kilts. I myself prefer wool kilts to wear unless it very hot out. Most likely any tartan available to one is also available to the other. I don't know how purple a tartan you are looking for, but Isle of Skye is on my must have list.

I had a 5-yard 16 oz. kilt for a couple of years. I sold it because it was too hot for summer wear here in Florida. Most people can't tell the difference between a 5-yarder and an 8-yarder. A wool 5-yarder will hang and swing better than a synthetic 8-yarder.
Whether 5 yards will be enough material to make a nice kilt for you will depend on your hip measurement. What is your hip size?

Thank you for all the input. It really is helping me.
My hip size is 38 when I am relaxed and no one is looking, and 36 when I need t suck it in

You and I have the same hip size so I can confidently state a 5-yard kilt will look good on you.
USA Kilts usually keeps a limited amount of wool tartan material in the shop. Contact Rocky and see if he has any "purple" tartans in stock. Having material or a kilt shipped in from the UK will take about 10-14 days.
I am very happy with my Skye Highland Outfitters wool 8-yard kilt, which sells for $300. Mine was delivered to my door in 5 weeks. Usual turn around time is 4 to 6 weeks. SHO's Standard kilt is available in the Spirit of Scotland tartan, which has purple in it.

Well I think I have made up my mind. I will order a 5 yard Wool from USA Kilts. If I order by Monday that gives me a good 17 weeks for it to arrive.
Thanks for all the help!

Be sure you follow their measuring instructions carefully. From reading your post above it seems that you are confusing hips and waist.
Seriously, congrats on the kilt-to-be. Those of us who have been here a while know that you'll be very pleased with it.

USA Kilts for no other reason than you'll be dealing directly with your kiltmaker rather than a middle man. Fewer chances for a foul up so no grief when the wedding day arrives and your kilt hasn't yet.
Plus, Rocky's a cool dude who loves kilts rather than a businessman in the kilt business.
Just ordered my 24th and 25th kilts from him and can't say enough about the value he gives. When I first started reading all the good words about USA Kilts thought it was too good to be true. But tried one and now I'm sold.
You can have any two of quality, price, or service.
If you're buying a kilt for a wedding make sure quality is one of the two you choose.
