    Hello Knitters!

I'm new to the forum and was wondering who the knitters are around here. So if you knit, just say hi! Also, are there any absolutely must-read previous knitting threads that I should take a look at to get started? I'm interested in kilt hose, classic men's garments like jumpers and waistcoats, and anything Fair Isle.

My wife is quite the knitter, and I'm the happy recipient of much of her talent. :-) So on her behalf, hello!

Er - I have about 40 or 50 knitting machines (I know I know) and a ton of yarn (yes yes, I know I'll never live long enough to use it all - I am relying on a scientific breakthrough on ageing soon)

I started knitting by hand over 50 years ago and bought my first machine about 40 years ago.

I teach, service and repair knitting machines, I also have a large library of patterns, plus pattern making software, also a collection of knitting needles of all kinds, plus crochet hooks and a couple of small weaving looms.

Knitting and yarn work is, however only one of my pastimes - I sew quite a bit, traditional garments and patchwork - and (noticing your name) - I play a Framus 'Texan' guitar and have a repertoire of several hundred folk songs.

I'm here, too. I just finished the right sock of a pair of hose for a fellow X-Marker, a couple of weeks ago I made a pair of gloves and felted them, last night I finished the right glove of a pair that will be felted for my wife, last fall I made myself a camouflage cardigan, I've made three pairs of hose for myself, one of which is pictured here:

I've made several regular socks for folks I know, a scarf for a friend who graduated from Yale University (which she said was quite popular among her classmates there), and several other things.
As far as other threads, try searching for "kilt hose" or "knit", and "handknit". There have been lots of discussions here.

My WIFE just completed a project!

She's wonderful; and, as soon as it dries from the felting process, I'll be posting pix of me wearing my new Tam-o-shanter produced from an 18th-century pattern!

Next up: a pair of kilt hose... She's not made socks before; so, we may be relying on the experience of the community to get through it. :-D

The spirit of the Declaration of Arbroath (6 April 1320) abides today, defiantly resisting any tyranny that would disarm, disperse and despoil proud people of just morals, determined to keep the means of protecting their families and way of life close at hand.
