Well, I've been in the same position as you have. I ended up just wearing it and not making a deal about it. if it helps here are some pictures of myself and my date as well as my friend and his date. I am in a blackwatch SWK Standard and he is in a USAKilt in the US Navy Tartan (originally he was going to try and wear it as his proper sea cadets uniform, lazy guy never got around to it though.) The school had no problem with it because we were polite and respectful to all. hope that helps. good luck! ~Casey

While we all wait for Isaac to update us on his conquest...

Someone is going to have to enlighten me-- why are there so many people in school administrations afraid of kilts? I'm just not getting it. Furthermore, to echo Isaac's point on the attire of girls at prom these days-- I've seen girls wear things that are waaaay more distracting than kilts.

    It's a curiosity indeed

At my prom there was a dress made of duct tape (kinda cool actually) One of celophane (didn't show the "subjects" but was plenty distracting) And one that dipped down in the front far enough to reveal the color of the gal's thong underwear.

My now-husband actually took me to prom. I didn't know he was interested in kilts at the time and he didn't say anything.

This post is a natural product made from Recycled electrons. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws or defects.

I went through the same thing! I wore my kilt to prom and had to get the principal's approval-it was not problem since it is a heritage issue and I wore my evening wear in advance one day to show him what it would look like. Of course, I was asked what would be worn underneath and naturally I said a pair of gym shorts of course! Well, that's what he wanted to hear-I wore it regimental to prom-keeping my ancestors pleased-as well as my prom date! HA!

    WIN!

cwr89, looking sharp...I've always thought a guy ought to dress to highlight his date, and my g/f is always grumbling about how I'm automatically the sharp dresser when we're out and I'm kilted (she's wrong, but there's no convincing her! )--you guys did an excellent job of wearing kilts and really showing off your dates at the same time, the way the colors compliment each other.
