I've been knitting for about 9 years now, but unfortunately knitting has to share time with a million other things that I love to do.

in fact I think this describes me all too well

...than half-arsed at too many things.

I knit. Sadly, I've got size 50 feet (size 15 American) so any sock/hose I begin will very quickly become too heavy & big to take with me. Wouldn't it be nice to knit on the train, tram, bus, at school... my socks would fill the space of two persons.

I am h2omom on Ravelry.com & have been knitting for years. I like different things about it. I like the variety. Colorwork, including stranded/fair isle and intarsia, and cables and textures. And I love keeping my hands busy. Love socks because they can go to the Dr appointments, oboe lessons and swim meets...and they are a complete project in a relatively short amount of time.

Love your tartan socks, sockknitter. Do you have a pattern that you use (that you can post)? I ask because of the cuff.

I'm teaching myself to knit socks and want to work up to tartan socks with a tartan cuff.

So many talented folks here! Nice that I don't even have to introduce myself.

I love to knit (first learned at age 7) and have dipped my toes into pattern design. I'm particularly interested in designing patterns for others to use based on their particular specifications. I do have a couple patterns for sale, and many more written down that need to be typed and formatted and charted.

I've got a pair of hose on the needles for CaptMac (and have for the past year) and also another pair in waiting for MactheKnife (how will I ever finish them in time?) along with several bonnets, but I'm always happy to help with knitting projects.

Do you knit? A bonnet would require you to cast on, on four stitches Knit, purl and K2tog (knit-2-together), increase. You can knit from either the top down or from the bottom up but it would still require the stitches above. I would suggest unaspenser's pattern or there are a number of free basic beret pattern. Basically from a knitting perspective the difference between a beret and a bonnet is the torrie (pom pom) on the top of the hat.

This Loin Brand Yarn pattern gives the basic idea.
