Nice work! All you need is some select items, a set of shears, a needle and some thread and you can DIY a custom sporran.

For NCMC...
I borrowed a friend's formal/ cantled sporran, Scotland-made and pricey...and kept consulting that for a "template."
Stitching was done w/ basic tools: hand awl and black waxed thread, several (straight and curved) large needles. I used a whipstitch, and went back & forth both directions, on all sewing points.
I cut out front & back leather pieces from the discarded briefcase, and also matching size interior piece of flexible plastic material, and slightly larger piece of black lining cloth. I then glued and subsequently stitched those all together.
Then sewed on the strap holder in back, along with the rear snap above that.
Then I sewed both F & B pieces to the gussets (two fur pieces, meeting in the middle)--all sewed together inside out. I left an inch of fur hanging down on the front piece, and also the two white stripes that take the place of tassels for this project. This part was tricky, as I had to use scotch tape to hold the fur out-of-the-way of my sewing.
then I glued in the black cloth interior pieces that cover the gusset. They're same size as corresponding gusset pieces but 1/2" extra on each side. Glue alone suffices to hold that in place.
Then the entire thing flipped right-side-out.
Then I constructed the flap and snap, and made sure it fit right.
Then the tricky part (and moment of truth)--fitting the cantle. I used the black leather piece that fits beneath the cantle as a template to punch three holes--exactly the right width and no wider--for the cantle to fit onto the front. Before the cantle actually went down I put the catch-strap down through the topmost cantle screw.
And voila! It was done. Except that I sewed the gusset inward to make the "mouth" of the Sporran fit better.
Friends have suggested I should make a few more sporrans for sale. I've been wanting to make a faux leopard sporran like the famous picture of Prince Henry of Battenberg. What do you think--should I try and make a few for sale?

I have seen those. Never seen enough to do much with. However, you can sometimes find things there.

Thanks for the step by step. Very exciting.
Make them and they will sell.
