I know there are a few Hams here, so I thought I'd share what I just bought off E-Bay 5 minutes ago. Icom IC-701 HF Transceiver!

That was an expensive radio when it came out in the late 70's. There was a matching VHF model (IC-211). I still have, and use as my primary HF rig, the IC-745 which came out a few years later in the early 80's. It was about half the price of the 701

I understand that the 701 was Icom's entry into the US market, and they put every bell and whistle they had at the time on it.

I have an IC-729, FWIW. Bought it new in 1992, and spent far more than I intended.
