The current position of the Scottish Wildcat, which is the totem and crest of Cluny Macpherson and the Clan Macpherson, is seated with one glove (arm and paw) raised. My ancestor's crest is a Scottish Wildcat-rampant-with one glove holding a dagger. I would love to find a good, Scottish metalsmith to fashion the badge for me, but I have not done so yet, that is why I wear the clansman's badge with one eagle feather-of course I don't wear the feather all of the time-only when I deem it appropriate, suitable, and practical (mainly at games, gatherings, and clan meetings-AGM's-and in Scotland). I hope I clarified my privilege of being armigerous to everyone. I am not breaking any sort of Scottish Law, as I have done the research and have followed the proper procedures to a tee!
Ian Grant of Edinburgh (easily Googled) is a fine silver engraver and specializes, amongst other things, in clan badges.

Thanks Jock. I have yet to begun the actual process of researching metalsmiths for my badge, yet thanks to you and others on XMTS, I have wonderful places to start!

Back on subject, The outfit as described sounds wonderful and look forward to the pics.
Yes there is an allowance, if you are a Scottish Armiger and your arms are registered with the Lyon Court. Thanks! I'll get the pics up as soon as I can!

Thanks for that Kyle. It is really good to see people following the rules.

Not to belabor the subject, but I am not refering to rules of heraldry. I am referencing the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, which very strickly defines who in the US can posses an eagle feather.
If you are aware, and make an informed choice to do what you want, it matters not to me what you choose. I would just not want someone to unknowingly make a decision that could have consequences. I won't bring it up again, and apolligize to those who are already tired of the subject.

Okay, no need to get snippy Joe, we are all mates here, well at least I hope! My golden eagle feather was given to me by another armiger (see photo below-the armiger is obviously wearing his eagle feather-his name is Sandy Macpherson of Edinburgh) within the Clan Macpherson ranks during our 2008 international AGM, once I was granted arms of course. I had no control over where it was purchased or acquired, and was not aware of the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. I shall look into that. Perhaps I may require a license to wear my eagle feather just like some animal mask sporrans in Scotland?

Please, there is no snippery on my side at all. I love the photos and insight you have added here in the last days. My only intention was as stated, to help someone avoid an unintended error.

I look forward to more of your great photos.

    In friendship,
    Joe
